Privacy Policy — UVio

This Privacy Policy explains how the UVio app ("the App"), published by Pony That Limited ("we", "us", "our"), handles your information. In short: UVio keeps your personal data on your device. We do not have accounts or servers that collect your data, we do not use trackers, and we do not collect or sell your personal data.

What we collect

Sun and skin data (stored on your device). Your skin profile (such as your estimated skin type, desired shade, and whether you indicate you are photosensitive), tanning sessions, skin reaction logs, skin self-checks, saved places, and app settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage. A small snapshot of your latest sun data is shared with the App's Home Screen widget through a private app container on your device. This information is not transmitted to us or to any third party.

No account. UVio does not require you to create an account or provide your name, email address, or any personal identifiers to use it.

No analytics or tracking. The App does not include advertising, third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Location

If you enable location, UVio uses it to fetch the UV index and weather forecast for your location via Apple WeatherKit, and to search for and name places via Apple MapKit. In both cases your location is sent to Apple as the service provider that returns this data. We do not receive, log, or store your precise location on any server we operate. Apple's handling of this information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. You can also choose a location manually instead of using your device location, and you can turn off location access at any time in iOS Settings.

Camera and the skin-tone estimate

To personalise your sun guidance, UVio offers an optional skin-tone estimate that uses your device's front camera. The image is analysed on your device to estimate an average skin tone and is never saved to your photo library, stored by the App, or uploaded anywhere. The camera is used only while you are on the estimate screen. This estimate is cosmetic guidance, not a medical or diagnostic assessment.

Face data

UVio does not collect, use, share, sell, or retain face data. The optional skin-tone estimate captures a single frame from your device's front camera and measures the average colour of the centre of that frame in order to place your skin on the Fitzpatrick scale (Type I–VI). The App performs no face detection, no facial recognition, no facial landmark or face-geometry mapping, and creates no faceprint, face template, or other biometric identifier. No face data is derived from the image, and the App cannot recognise or identify anyone from it.

The captured frame is processed entirely on your device, in memory only. It is never written to storage, never saved to your photo library, never included in any backup, never transmitted off the device, and never shared with us or with any third party. The frame is discarded as soon as the estimate is produced or you leave the screen — the retention period is the duration of that screen only, and nothing about the image persists after it. UVio contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party data-collection SDKs, and has no server that could receive an image.

The only result kept is a skin-type category (for example "Type III"), which is stored locally on your device as a preference so your sun guidance can be personalised. You can change it at any time in the App, and you can erase it using Settings → Reset App or by deleting the App.

Notifications

UVio can send local notifications — for example, sun-plan reminders, UV alerts, skin-check reminders, and guided-session timers. These are scheduled and delivered on your device. Notifications are optional and can be turned off in the App or in iOS Settings.

Purchases

UVio is free and contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

How your data is used

Because your sun and skin data stays on your device, we do not access, analyse, or use it. It exists only to power the App's features for you.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only third party involved in the App's operation is Apple, which provides the App Store, the operating system services the App runs on, and the WeatherKit and MapKit services used to return weather, UV, and place information for your location.

Data retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual entries (such as sessions or logs) within the App, clear your profile and data using "Reset App" in Settings, or remove all of the App's data by deleting the App from your device.

Children's privacy

UVio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
