Privacy Policy — GradeSignal

This Privacy Policy explains how the GradeSignal app ("the App"), published by Pony That Limited ("we", "us", "our"), handles your information. In short: GradeSignal keeps your grades on your device. We do not have accounts or servers that collect your data, the App makes no network requests, we do not use trackers, and we do not collect or sell your personal data.

What we collect

Academic data (stored on your device). The school and semester names, courses, credits, assignments, scores, grading categories, goals, saved scenarios, course templates, grading scales, and app settings you enter are stored locally on your device, in a private app container that only the App and its Home Screen widget can read. The widget uses this data to show your GPA and the assignment worth focusing on next. This information is not transmitted to us or to any third party.

No account. GradeSignal does not require you to create an account or provide your name, email address, or any personal identifiers to use it.

No analytics or tracking. The App does not include advertising, third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

No device permissions. The App does not ask for access to your location, camera, photos, contacts, microphone, or health data, and does not send notifications.

Export and restore

You can choose to export your data as a PDF transcript, a CSV file, or a JSON backup. The file is created on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet, and you decide where it goes, for example the Files app, email, or another app. Once you share a file, its handling is governed by the service or app you send it to. We never receive a copy.

You can also restore from a JSON backup you select using the iOS file picker. The App reads only the file you choose, and restoring replaces the data currently stored in the App.

Purchases

GradeSignal contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

How your data is used

Because your academic data stays on your device, we do not access, analyse, or use it. It exists only to power the App's features for you, such as calculating your GPA, course grades, goals, and analytics.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only third party involved in the App's operation is Apple, which provides the App Store and the operating system services the App runs on.

Data retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual semesters, courses, and assignments within the App, or remove all of the App's data by deleting the App from your device. If you use iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, the App's data is included in those backups under your own backup settings, in the same way as other apps' data.

Children's privacy

GradeSignal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because the App collects no personal data at all, this applies to every user.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
